In this step, you are going to start to move your horse’s feet by untracking the hind feet. At first one step, then multiple steps, until they flow quite easily. Get one side good then the other.

Success Tips:

- Reward small tries.
- Apply leg aid slowly and softly.
- Get one side good before the other.
- Don’t release your hand when you release your leg.
- This step is best done with a ground helper, it’s a great step in between groundwork and ridden work.
- Be aware of rising tension, and wait for it to ease.

Common Problems/Mistakes:

- Asking for too much too soon.
- Not waiting for the horse to reset between each ask.
- Not being aware of rising tension.
