- Reward small tries.
- Apply leg aid slowly and softly.
- Get one side good before the other.
- Don’t release your hand when you release your leg.
- This step is best done with a ground helper, it’s a great step in between groundwork and ridden work.
- Be aware of rising tension, and wait for it to ease.
- Asking for too much too soon.
- Not waiting for the horse to reset between each ask.
